A sad picture with a very happy ending
Heartbreaking. But there was a happy ending after all....
This is precisely why protection is needed, and creating awareness is vital to keeping Costa Rica wild. It made US aware, so we emailed the Rescue Center when we got home and sent these photos. A few weeks later, this monkey was reunited with her sister at the Jaguar Rescue Center! (See "The Incredible History of Yury and Molly" gallery). Spider monkeys are highly endangered and thankfully the government seems to be diligent about protecting its natural resources.
